In the first event, Japan’s Natsumi Hoshi used a strong last 50 to pull away from the rest of the heat and win the women’s 200 fly in 2:07.32. Palo Alto’s Jasmine Tosky took the race out fast but faded to second in 2:09.66, while New York Athletic Club’s Kim Vandenberg hit the wall third in 2:10.02. The women’s and men’s 400 medley relays were also contested at the end of the evening.
